Mahopac High School senior Kyle Haase has been recognized as a Student of Distinction through the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Career and Technical Education program, an honor that highlights his dedication and growth in the field of welding.
Haase, who enrolled in the welding program without prior experience, quickly developed a strong foundation through his focus and commitment. He was honored during a recent Mahopac Board of Education meeting, where his hard work and achievements were celebrated alongside family members, educators and program leaders.
“I am very honored to have been chosen,” Haase said. “I have done a lot of hard work along the way. I’ve been dedicated, shown up and gotten all my work done. It’s nice to see all that work has paid off.”
“Kyle tackled challenging coursework with consummate professionalism, a positive attitude and an eagerness to help his fellow classmates,” welding instructor Rob Stanford said.
Stanford said Haase picked up new techniques quickly, applying them with care, and over time grew comfortable with each of the welding processes the program offered. Throughout his time in the program, Haase has been known for his reliability, strong work ethic and willingness to support others, qualities that helped him stand out both in the classroom and in the shop.
Initially drawn to the program through an interest in building and mechanics, Haase found a passion in welding and plans to continue his training after graduation. He will attend SUNY Delhi to pursue additional certifications in the field.
“I decided I would give it a shot,” Haase said. “Now, I think I’m sticking with it for the long haul.”
